Bad Times with a TH901

A less great Newegg find: trying to get the slightly improved capsule from a TH901 over the BM800 with mediocre capsule. A seller was essentially (based on the shipping/returns) selling from an Amazon warehouse to a Newegg storefront. In this case, the wires were terrible torn-up ribbon cables and the XLR was totally scrambled with relation to the board pads.

The return process, despite having some half dozen weird status emails as the seller coordinated something to get my Newegg order returned to their Amazon warehouse, went off without a hitch and I received a full refund for the incorrectly wired connector.

Other observations were that the solder job, including on the capsule, was very poor even considering lead-free solder and presumably rapid assembly with minimal process control. Given the wiring order issue, however, not surprising. Still might be worth looking into this model or similar again in the future.

Also, by the time my return had completed the Newegg listing for the product had been pulled by the seller completely. Given that the price on Newegg was higher than on Amazon, oh well.
