The portable equipment options consists of the following

  • FT-818, Z-817 tuner, stock 50/144/440 antenna, CAT/audio interface
  • KX3 w/ KXAT3, KXBC3, and PX3 (internal tuner, internal RTC and battery charger, external panadaptor)
  • Portable antennas
    • MJF-1899T and BNC tripod plate mount (rarely used)
    • HF-319 magnetic loop with added vernier
  • An actually useful selection of QRP wire antennas that I'll keep expanding
    • My favored 29' speaker wire on BNC to binding posts (40-10m)
    • 44' doublet from a single twisted pair out of a CAT5 cable
    • Uncommitted 9:1 unun for wires (70' speaker wire, 41' 20 AWG PVC wire, plus misc counterpoises) outfitted with WAGO 221 Lever-Nuts
    • A slowly expanding collection of 1/4l elevated radial verticals built onto plastic-body BNC connectors
  • Antenna Deployment
    • Marlow Excel 2mm Throw Line (at WesSpur)
    • WesSpur 10oz throw weight (from the Marlow kit, but the bag is NOT worth it)
    • Jackite 16' (green) and 26' heavy (blue) standard-collapsed-length fiberglass telescoping poles
    • Cheap speaker stand
    • 3/8" paracord as needed
  • Bioenno Power LiFePO4 packs for portable operation (12V, 3 and 4.5 AH)
  • Digirig Mobile x2 for CAT + audio to computer (TTL for 818, RS-232 for KX3) if my computer ever came along with me…

The VHF direction equipment

  • FTM-3200D and some old generic mag-mount (seldom used)
  • VX-2 and unbranded 19" flexy-whip (2m, 70cm)
  • TH-350 with SRH-17 tri-band whip (2m, 1.25m, 07 cm)
  • IC-W32A in 5-character serial number (needs more functional batteries) (2m, 70cm with duplex/dual-receive)
  • KG-UV8T with BNC adapter for RH77CA whip (2m, 1.25m, 70cm with duplex/dual-receive)
